MEET THE WINNER OF THE 2022 COMPETITION
ABIGAIL BROWN
Winner of the 2022 competition, Artist
Abigail is a multidisciplinary artist, born in Yorkshire, now living in east London. She is constantly evolving her work through medium and scale, fascinated by the exploration of combined materials and processes, but always with a focus on the Animal Kingdom.

Her animals often take the form of gods and goddesses, spiritual beings, processional figures in acts of ceremony, keepers of sacred items, story-tellers and protectors. They are informed by her love of the hand-made, by her travels and interest in different cultures, and by the folk art she collects. She seeks and treasures objects that bear the mark of their maker, items that carry stories, surfaces worn down by touch, pieces that have personality, depth and soul, that decorate the colourful walls and surfaces of her home and provide a constant source of inspiration and joy.

MEET THE WINNER OF THE 2023 COMPETITION
HEIDI HOLME
Winner of the 2023 competition, Artist
Heidi Holmes' practice begins with symptoms that develop within a body and then exist outside of a body as material. These symptom-to-material installations encompass reconstruction, sculpture and atmosphere and reference domestic decoration, medicine, bodily functions, aging and feminist theory. Recent exhibitions have included a reimagining of a hot flush through a collection of cooking pots continuously boiling water and an ode to lubricant through an installation that repeated wet and dry gestures. Currently, the symptom-materials in these works reflect the conditions of Menopause, inclusive of hormone-withdrawl Menopause and Perimenopause. Formerly, these materials were determined by the annals of failed fertility and childlessness.
Australian visual artist Heidi Holmes (she/her) has a BFA(Hons) from (VCA) The University of Melbourne and an MFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design. Holmes has exhibited internationally in solo and curated exhibitions and was recently featured in Angela Balzano's book, To do away with the family, From abortion to post-human relationships, published by Meltemi Press. Holmes is a current member of Power Plant's esteemed Emerging Artist Network in Toronto,
