59th edition

The 59th International Art Exhibition will take place from April 23 to November 27, 2022 (pre-opening on 20, 21 and 22 April), and is curated by Cecilia Alemani.
Biennale is one of the most important contemporary art exhibitions in the world and alternates between Art and Architecture. This year will be art. You will visit most of the exhibitions during the training. But you will also have free time to spend time in Giardini and Arsenale by yourself.

Palazzo Ducale

Venezia 1600. Nascite e Rinascite
Sept 4, 2021 - June 5, 2022

San Marco Basilica and Palazzo Ducale organize this year special events for the anniversary of the 1600th year of Venice's foundation. Nascite e Rinascite will be on until June 2022 and shows, inside Palazzo Ducale, representation of Venetian power and arts during the Serenissima.

Bruce Nauman: contrapposto studies / May 23, 2021 - Nov. 27, 2022

One of the major video artists of our time, winner of Leone d'oro in Venice Biennale in 2009. The exhibition presents many video installations, centered on one of his first works, Walk with Contrapposto, 1968. Nauman uses the same theme, his own walk, to build his recent work, "Contrapposto Studies".

Marlene Dumas : Open-End / March 27, 2022 - Jan 8, 2023

Personal show of this painter, born in 1953 in Cape Town, South Africa. More than 100 works, from the 80's to recent paintings are collected for this occasion, coming from national and private collections.

TEATRINO DI PALAZZO GRASSI / April 4, 2022 - June 6, 2022

DANCING STUDIES

Punta della Dogana presents a cycle of inedited dancing performances, by worldwide choreographs. Invited by Carlos Basualdo and Caroline Bourgeois, curators of Nauman's show, they invite the visitor to think about the dialog between video art and performance, dance, sound design and image.

DOMUS GRIMANI. LA SALA DEL DOGE

Wonderful Renaissance palace in the heart of Venice, Museo di Palazzo Grimani enhances dialogue between ancient and new. Until November, you will discover an exhibition of paintings by the german artist Georg Baselitz, as well as an installation about the Doges in Venice and in Grimani's palace, running from May 19th.
