Teaching language through art
Join our brand new interactive course for language educators. You get the opportunity to develop your language teaching skills in an international environment. Participants have workshops and brainstorming sessions which focus on using works of art as a tool in language learning classroom. In addition to classes and workshops led by expert facilitators, the course includes visits to cultural spaces and museums, with time to explore and find inspiration.
The course takes place in Venice, Italy. The city is incredibly international with a wide range of cultures represented in the artwork displayed.

COURSE FEATURES
The new course focuses on giving educators lots of practice in art and language integrated learning.

WHO CAN JOIN?
Educators working with students in a language learning capacity. No prior education requirement apply for this course. One institution can send up to 20 participants per course.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Educators will have a greater understanding of the following:
- Using art in language learning
- Inclusion and diversity
- Content and language integrated learning.
4 LESSON PLANS
Teachers will walk away from the course with new methodology, 4+ completed lesson plans, and tools which can immediately be brought back into their second language classroom.
PROFESSIONAL NETWORK
You do networking with European colleagues. Many teachers use hands-on opportunities to plan common international projects.
HOW TO GET ERASMUS+ FUNDING?
Your school/company/organisation can apply for Erasmus+ funding to cover tuition fees, travel and accommodation expenses. The funding opportunity is called Erasmus Plus Key Action 1 (KA101 for schools and KA104 for other educators).

Our fee consists of the Organisational support (180 EUR) and the Course fee (480 EUR). You can apply for the funding under Organisational support and course fee in your online application.
Organisational support / 100 EUR per participant from Erasmus Plus funding + 80 EUR extra (paid by school or teacher individually)
ECA charges organizational support to ensure the high quality of its mobility programmes. European Cultural Academy provides organizational support in the following ways:
- Preparation of mobility activities (pedagogical, intercultural, linguistic);
- Arrangements with partners for visits;
- Providing updated course catalogues for international participants;
- On-site information and assistance to staff by multilingual team of coordinators;
- Preparation of the agreements and certificates to ensure full recognition of the participants educational components;
- Efficient mentoring and supervision arrangements of mobile participants.
- Validation of learning outcomes.
Course fees: 80 EUR per participant per day (6 days*80 = 480 EUR)
490 EUR is the tuition fee for the enrollment into the 7 day course. The tuition includes goodie bags, museum and city tours, guided visits to the Venice Biennale (from May to November), artistic workshop, all course materials, snacks and beverages during classes, lectures by leading experts in pedagogy, certificate ceremony and celebration cocktail at the end of each course.
In addition to this, your school can apply for the following funding:
- Travel (based on the travel distance per participant);
- Individual support (80 – 160 EUR, defined by your national agency);
- Special needs support (costs directly related to participants with disabilities);
- Exceptional costs.

We plan to hold all courses in 2021 face-to-face. During the courses ECA follows strict safety regulations suggested by Italian and Dutch governments. Our last Erasmus course was held in October 2020 and was safe for all the participants.
In case of COVID-19 related restrictions we will postpone the course to a later date. You will be able to transfer your participation free of charge. We support your transfer with the national agency.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Amsterdam and Venice and share our love and knowledge in art and creativity. We stay at your disposal for application questions.
