Using works of art in the classroom: theory and practice
UPDATED PROGRAMME WITH EXTRA PRACTICAL MATERIALS AND TEMPLATES FOR YOUR CLASSROOM!

This engaging and interactive course gives you the opportunity to develop your skills in an international environment with educators from around Europe. You will have several workshops to learn and practice tools that you can use in the classroom immediately. The course also includes visits to cultural spaces, museums and meetings with cultural educators.

You will create lesson plans using artworks which focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing. These lesson plans can be applied to works of art in your home city, or you can use Google Arts & Culture online collection for wider reach.

The course takes place in Venice, Italy. The city has an incredible variety of art in its museums, ranging from Renaissance paintings to contemporary art installations.

COURSE FEATURES

The course helps you to improve knowledge and get tangible skills in teaching through art. You acquire knowledge and competences that you can transfer to your own practice through facilitated materials and support from the course leaders. You visit the most relevant museums and cultural spaces in Venice.

You become more comfortable developing lesson plans that incorporate works of art to reach your learning goals. You get practical materials, templates and activity examples ready for use in your classroom.
PROFESSIONAL NETWORK
You do networking with European colleagues. Many teachers use hands-on opportunities to plan common international projects.
FOR PRIMARY AND SECONDARY TEACHERS
Primary Teacher Cohort will focus on Teaching Through Art in Primary Education (general, all subjects). Secondary Teacher Cohort will focus on Teaching Critical Thinking and Communication Skills Through Art.
HOW TO GET ERASMUS+ FUNDING?
Your school/company/organisation can apply for Erasmus+ funding to cover most expenses. The funding opportunity is called Erasmus Plus Key Action 1 (KA101 for schools and KA104 for other educators).
